Education Commission

Parish School of Religion
The Religious Education Ministry of St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church is committed to teaching and spreading the Word of God to children, youth, and adults of our parish. Together, we are all called to holiness by virtue of our baptism to share the mission to spread the Good News. We seek to enable all children, youth, and adults to form a lifelong commitment to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ through an understanding of the Catholic Faith, Mass celebrations, prayer, bible study, and the Sacraments.

Family Program
Family Program is a recognized and approved home study religious education choice for families wishing to meet and learn about Christ and His Church together. Families are grouped together according to educational needs and share in the responsibilities of teaching the faith to their children. Families enjoy growing together spiritually in this small community atmosphere.

LIFE Teen
LIFE Teen is a comprehensive program designed to minister to high school teens of all faiths from a uniquely Catholic base. Attempting to reach teens on spiritual, emotional and social levels, LIFE Teen responds to their need to be loved and accepted in a day and age where many young people experience a sense of hopelessness about their future and lack meaning and direction for their lives. To provide this direction, LIFE Teen encourages teens to embark on a journey of faith and relationship with God through Jesus Christ. At weekly LIFE Teen Mass, teens enter into authentic and full worship of God with a faith community of peers, families and adult ministers. Teens experience Christ's power and love through praise, prayer, and breaking open the Word of God in scripture. Following the Mass, teens meet with trained youth ministers and core members to learn about their faith in challenging ways through the LIFE Night experience.

RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation for adults is a sacramental process of discerning and ritualizing stages of conversion, leading to sacramental initiation through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist celebrated at the Easter Vigil. From the experience of conversion, one is empowered to live a life of service, charity, and justice as witness to the reign of God.

Baptismal Preparation
As the Sacrament of Baptism unites us to Jesus Christ, the parish family of St. Stephen's requires the parents wishing to have their children baptized to attend our Baptism class held at the church. Sponsors or Godparents are highly encouraged to attend. Childcare will be provided if needed. Please contact the church office at 770-381-7488 for dates and times of classes and to schedule the baptism. Parents need to register in advance for an upcoming class.

Men’s Bible Study
The Men’s Bible Study began in the Fall of 2002. The goal of the group is to assist the men of St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church become better Christian/Catholic men, husbands, fathers, etc. We strive to accomplish this through study of the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and other materials. We then discuss what we have read and try to incorporate what we learn and discuss into our lives. We are committed to an active prayer life. If you are interested in growing your faith with other like minded men, please come and join us on Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. at the church.
