Parish School Religion

General Information and Registration

The Religious Education Ministry of St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church is committed to teaching, living, and sharing the Word of God with the children, youth, and adults of our parish and community.  Together, we are all called to holiness by virtue of our baptism to share the mission to spread the Good News.  We seek to enable all children, youth, and adults to form a lifelong commitment to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ through an understanding of the Catholic Faith, Mass celebrations, prayer, bible study, and the Sacraments.  You must be a registered parishioner of St. Stephen the Martyr to register for PSR.

  • Children’s Liturgy of the Word is a planned program to enrich our children’s liturgical experience of God’s presence in the ritual proclamation of the Word.  Children’s Liturgy of the Word invites children ages 4 ½ years through 3rd grade to worship and pray together at the 11:00 a.m. Mass on most Sundays of the year.  No registration is required for Children’s Liturgy of the Word.  Children are dismissed from Mass following the opening prayer and return before Holy Communion.
  • Order of Christian Initiation for Children (O.C.I.C.) is preparation for those in middle school and high school who have not celebrated the sacraments of Baptism or Communion or those who wish to  become Catholic.
  • Home Study is approved through the Parish School of Religion.  Families may request to home school their children except during sacrament years.  All home school families must complete PSR registration and a Home Study Plan to be submitted to the PSR office and approved by the pastor.  Once approved, participants must attend a Home School Orientation and complete quarterly reviews to remain in good standing.  The fee for Home School is the same as regular PSR.
  • Vacation Bible School takes place each summer.  The program is a Catholic Program and follows an overall theme.  Activities include crafts, music and more.  Adult and teen volunteers are always needed.  Nursery is available for children of full-time volunteers.

First Holy Communion / Reconciliation
