Visitation
The goals of this ministry are to visit
the residents of Atria, an assisted living community, and to bring
friendship and fellowship on behalf of the parish. We also want
to get all our volunteers to feel so at ease that they will drop
in for little visits anytime they are in the neighborhood of Atria.
This means so much to the residents and requires so little effort
on our part. We have committed ourselves to provide a program on
the first Saturday of each month at 3:00 p.m. Our needs are for
different groups from St. Stephen's to come forward to volunteer
to share their talents so that we can build our monthly program
around a different theme. Any musical talents, any children's groups
that could entertain with singing or a skit, storytelling, someone
to lead in games, craft demonstrations, dancing anything
to bring the residents together as a group where we can brighten
their day. Ideas for themes are most welcome. We want them to associate
the name of St. Stephen's parish with a loving, caring group who
remembers them not only in our prayers but also in the sharing of
our time.

Outreach
Our ministry is a continuous effort to provide
assistance to the needs of the poor and homeless of Atlanta and
in our community. We accomplish this by providing basic necessities
through Meal Mobile, Shelter Nights, and other programs developed
in our ministry. We will also support and assist the needs
of our parish's St. Vincent de Paul Society.

St. Stephen
Social Justice Committee
The focus of the Social Justice Committee
is to improve and change the social structures of our community
so that the values embodied by Jesus Christ and the Roman Catholic
church are manifested in our society. The main points of interest
will be to identify issues pertaining to our community, organize
events that bring these issues to the forefront of our Parish, and
to convey the Church's issue-specific teachings.

The Sponsor
Couple Program
The Catholic Church firmly and lovingly
believes that we as a Church have a responsibility to couples entering
into married life to adequately prepare them for the vocation of
marriage. The Sponsor Couple Program is a couple to couple Program.
In the private, non-threatening atmosphere of the married couple's
(sponsor couple) home, the engaged couple has the opportunity to
ask questions and discuss issues about married life they may have
hesitated to discuss with others, espeially parents and relatives.
The five sessions, lasting about 3 hours each, cover a number of
subjects including expectations about marriage, good communication
in marriage, values and conflicts, marital intimacy and sexuality,
and marriage as a Sacrament of the church. The sponsor couples are
St. Stephen the Martyr couples who share their own experiences of
Christian marriage and who receive training for thie ministry. The
program is free and all materials are provided by the parish.
