Spiritual Life Commission

Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is made up of six teams of fourwomen each. Their duties are to clean the altar each week. Another group of five women wash and iron the altar linens weekly.
Contact: Pat Kennedy at 770-381-6261 or Carmencita Paz at 770-564-1525.

Altar Servers
The Catechism of the Catholic Church says, "The Sunday celebration of the Lord's Day and his Eucharist is at the heart of the Church's life. Participation in the communal celebration of the Sunday Eucharist is a testimony of belonging and of being faithful to Christ and to his Church." O.K., this is a little deep for our younger parishioners, but a great way for our kids to be more involved in our weekly celebration is to join the St. Stephen's Altar Servers team. Boys and girls ten years old and older are invited to learn more about the Mass, participate more actively in our community worship, and serve as an example to all of our young parishioners by joining our team of great Altar Servers.
Contact: Jim Curry at 770-564-1423 or by e-mail at jim@curry4.com for more information.

Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers
This ministry is a special call and commitment to serve in a liturgical capacity at our church. Persons called to serve the parish community in this way must be certified by the Archdiocese and take the required training. They are then appointed by the Archbishop for a specific term to help distribute Holy Eucharist at Mass. They may also bring the Eucharist to parishioners who are homebound or in the hospital. If you are interested in becoming a Eucharistic Minister Contact: Deacon Evelio at 770-925-8206.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the Homebound
Trained and certified Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion conduct a Communion service for Catholics living in nearby Assisted Living facilities or nursing homes. They also bring Communion to parishioners at home who are unable to attend Mass because of sickness or disability.
Contact: Joe and Juanita Altschuler at 770 923-7523.

Lectors
Lectors form a Ministry to God's Word for our Parish. Lectors proclaim God's Word during Mass. In preparation for Mass the lector becomes immersed in God's Word so that it may be proclaimed from the heart, and the meaning come forth as God intended. To be a lector, one must be able to read aloud and have a clear, strong speaking voice. Lectors are required to attend a one-time training session and an annual refresher class.
Contact: Mr. Richard (Rick) Kaszycki, at 770-402-1254, or email r_kaz@msn.com.

Music Ministry
The St. Stephen Singers was the first vocal group formed for the parish back in 1995 when only one Mass was held at Parkview High School. We are a traditional church choir, singing in four parts with piano or organ accompaniment. The St. Stephen Singers participate in the 8:30 a.m. Mass each Sunday. We rehearse in the Sanctuary each Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:00 pm. All singers willing to commit their time to learn and grow musically, singing traditional church choir music and style are welcome to join our group.

Music Ministry (11:00 a.m. Mass)
The 11:00 choir is a community of believers sharing their musical gifts and talents to serve and lead our church community in worship and praise. The music is contemporary with an occasional mix of traditional. Musical knowledge is not necessary. We are open to all who wish to share their musical gifts. Rehearsals are held at the church on Thursday nights from 7:30 to 9:00 pm and one hour before Sunday Mass. Frequent rehearsal participation is required.
Contact: Gail Grimes at 770-978-4605.

Life Teen Choir (6:00 p.m. Mass)
Life Teen Band "V.O.W" our band has a new name."Voices of Worship" and is comprised of committed high school age teens and adults. We provide upbeat and spirit-filled music at the 6:00 pm Sunday LIFE Teen Mass. Our primary purpose is to minister music in order to glorify God and enhance the worship experience for the parish community who participates at the LIFE Teen Mass. The band rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 pm and again at 5:00 pm before Sunday evening Mass.

Music Ministry Children's Choir
The St. Stephen's Children's Choir is a group of children from Kindergarten through eighth grade who enjoy praising God by singing. This special group learns responsibility, and that children ARE a great help within our parish by leading music during one Mass a month and the Children's Christmas Vigil Mass. We practice (and have fun!) on Thursday nights from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in the church. ALL children are invited to join and experience being part of our Sunday liturgy. Contact: Carol Rehonic at 770-925-3070.

Music Ministry (Resurrection Choir)
The Resurrection Choir is a group of willing singers who are motivated in being "flexible" enough to sing for our parish funerals. We are flexible in that we sing with only a couple days notice, but do a GREAT JOB with God's help. Most music that we sing is from our Catholic Hymnals, but we will do music that the family involved requests WHEN POSSIBLE! ANYONE from our parish family is welcome to join our group.
Contact: Carol Rehonic at 770-925-3070.

Stewardship Ministry
Time, Talent and Treasure. Everything we have comes as a gift from God. This ministry helps parishioners find the best ways to return these same gifts to God. No set time to meet at present.
Contact: Mary Ann Harold at 770-381-8195.

Ushers
Ushers assist with preparations of the Church prior to Mass, greet parishioners, seat the congregation, collect the Offertory, assist the Gift Bearers, direct the congregation during Communion, provide assistance to any one with special needs, and distribute bulletins at the end of Mass. Ushers for the Saturday Vigil Mass at 5:00 p.m. are scheduled according to those who regularly attend that Mass. For Sunday morning Mass, each usher group will serve either the 8:30 or 11:00 am Mass typically for one month, three times each year. There will be one required meeting during the Advent season with other meetings scheduled only as needed. Easter and Christmas Masses are served on a volunteer basis.
